How to Create A Banner for Your Website

Rate this Entry
Most of us are quite familiar with looking at Banners (aka Header images) on websites. In fact these days we expect it! It acts like a virtual business card for your website.

Most banners contain stylized text, a logo, at least one image, and sometimes even contact details. If your website gives you the ability to rotate banners it's a good idea to have a business card style banner in addition to products that you're promoting and/or new services and products you offer. While a surfer is on your homepage your website will automatically scroll through your various banners.

Banners can be as simple or complicated as you want them to be. Of course you have the option of hiring a graphic designer, but if you're going for something relatively simple you should be able to do it yourself. Although it might be worth doing a couple of Photoshop tutorials if you're not familiar with it. Basic photo editing along with gradient and mask tools are extremely helpful.

The attached PDF contains screen captures and simple instructions so that you can make your own banner in a short period of time.
